Race Overview: F’3 Cap Sauers Path Marathon & 10 Mile race

This previous weekend I participated on the F’3 cap Saiers path 10 mile race at Teason’s Woods in Palos Heights, IL positioned half-hour southwest from Chicago. These trails are nicely know for the swallow Cliff stairs by health fans and numerous gravel paths for mountain and gravel bike aficionados. That is the second 12 months for this race which included a full marathon. The occasion attracted a small subject of runners, it had that good previous grass roots operating group really feel. We had lovely spring climate on Sunday morning, with highs within the 50’s.

The marathoners began promptly at 730am. The marathon course is three components: 2 circuits of the ten mile course, and a closing 10k out-and-back to the WEST assist station & again. Athletes run on the difficult hills on the Sag Valley Path with 670 ft of elevation over the course of the ten mile loop. That was positively tougher than I anticipated. Congratulations to all finisher particularly the courageous marathoners. Primarily based on my calculations the marathon had nearly 1500 ft of elevation.

The help stations supplied water, Gatorade, Clif Gel, Pickles, Gummi Bears and have been accessible each 3 miles. The end line and put up run celebration had vegan chili, beer, and fruit. This was a singular, enjoyable, nicely organized occasion. I extremely suggest it to anybody wanting a brand new problem.

The enjoyable a part of taking part on independently-owned smaller races is the swag and medals. Each participant acquired a pair of American-made DeFeet Knee Excessive socks, custom-designed for F^3 and a picket medal on the end. I really like when race administrators suppose outdoors of the field. As somebody who has been operating for over 20 years and has tons of of race T-shirts, socks are a welcome addition to my operating wardrobe.
